Our course is relaxed and informal aimed at first time poultry keepers. We cover the basics of keeping happy healthy chickens. There will be chance to handle our birds and ask plenty of questions over light refreshments. We anticipate the course will last approximately 2 hours.
The course will be held where we keep our chickens, this is a working smallholding and there are areas of uneven ground. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing. We have a dry sheltered area in our barn in case of bad weather.
Please let us know in advance if you have any mobility problems and we will discuss any necessary arrangements with you to ensure you can fully take part in our course.
We do not yet have a toilet installed (it’s on our wish list!) we would suggest that you go to the loo before you arrive. There are public toilets in both Kirk Michael and Ballaugh should you require.
Families with children over 12 are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Sadly our current insurers are not willing to cover anybody under 12 to attend the course.
Dogs should be left in vehicles for the duration of the course; if you need to allow your dog to relieve itself it MUST be kept on a lead in the yard area, please pick up and take away any mess.
